I am trying something different with this painting. The painting pictured here is painted on canvas paper. It's a small "prototype" and can be painted only one time in the size of your choice. Follow the link above titled "Available" and pick your size!

I promised a friend of mine I would paint an abstract using the colors of orange an navy. It was a joy to paint (see yesterday's post) and I like the colors a lot. Thanks Charlotte for the inspiration!
I hope you are all enjoying the 30 Day Challenge as much as I am. I am going to try something different in the next few days so stay tuned for the news.
I did it! I actually painted an abstract painting with very little color. And it was so much fun. I took a different approach to this painting. I started off with some medium gloss gel and tissue paper and applied it to the canvas to create a lot of texture. I then painted layers of taupe and gray paint followed by layers of off-white paint. Then I added black paint and more off-white. The entire painting was created with a palette knife and I loved it.
Ok. The above paragraph has a few little white lies. The statement "but it was so much fun" is not a little white lie. It's a big white lie. The same applies to the statement "... and I loved it". This was not fun and I did not love it. This was hard. But I like it. I am very happy with the outcome. I just hope the person that buys it know that I poured 100% in to this one. I mean, it did take me four days. And yes, there are lots of layers on this one. I chose the title "Restless" after my husband rejected my first choice "Frustration". Other titles under consideration were "Angry" and "Annoyance". Good thing I was overruled. And by the way, my husband likes this one too. I hope you do as well. |
